Common Questions

What exactly is an Executive Coach ?

The most successful athletes, actors, and musicians understand that working with a trained professional coach is the best way to improve performance, set goals and unleash their full potential. Doctors, lawyers and certified accountants are skilled professionals who work with patients and clients to implement solutions to challenges that we can’t always work out on our own. They provide valuable information and insights that help us grow and develop strategies for success in our personal and professional lives.

A coach is someone who specializes in developing potential. A trained, certified Executive Coach is no exception.

Professional coaching is increasingly recognized as an effective way for successful individuals and businesses to:

  • Improve performance.
  • Unlock their full potential.
  • Move out of comfort zones.
  • Challenge themselves in their careers to reach new plateaus.

In today’s increasingly competitive business environment, an Executive Coach is a confidential thought-partner solely dedicated to making you look good. This can result in a huge edge over your competition.

How can Executive Coaching work for me?

A coach helps you achieve your objectives by:

  • Asking you to do more than you would have done on your own.
  • Assisting you in developing a better focus for producing improved results.
  • Imparting the tools, resources and support to increase your level of awareness in business and those people that impact your performance.
  • Expanding your vision of what you believe you are capable of accomplishing.
  • Helping you create a blueprint to achieve extraordinary success.

How does a coaching program usually begin?

The 26.2 Executive Coaching experience typically begins with an initial Foundation Session between you and your coach, either by phone or in person. This session lays the groundwork for the goals and objectives you wish to accomplish. It also allows you to get to know and feel comfortable with your coach.

You will guide the conversation to determine the next steps in your partnership with the coach, including a strategy and preliminary action plans geared toward achieving your desired outcome.

During this initial meeting, we will recommend a framework for our work together. It will include:

  • The desired coaching period.
  • Mutually agreed-upon session times and fees.
  • A recap and any further questions regarding our coaching engagement.

Prior to the first official coaching call, you will receive a welcome letter that will also contain information that is designed to help you gain further value from your coaching experience. We find that our clients significantly benefit from our self-guided, partnered approach.

What does a coaching engagement include?

You and your coach will determine the frequency of coaching sessions, generally 2 – 3 times per month. Sessions are conducted either in person, by phone, or on Skype. We’ll provide you with an outline focused on your goals for our coaching sessions together, but it’s always about your agenda, not ours. Prior to any coaching meeting, you can always elect to change the focus of the coaching conversation, should you so choose, or as a result of a situation arising that you feel requires discussion during that particular session.

26.2 Executive Coaching offers several value-added components for our clients, including quick e-mail exchanges or short 10-minute phone calls between coaching sessions (within reason), for questions or challenges that may arise from time to time, or to inform us about a recent victory you’re excited about – we will be too!

How long should I commit to working with a coach?

Most of our clients work with 26.2 Executive Coaching for anywhere from six months to a year, or longer. Realizing the success of your investment in yourself takes time to develop and derive its full benefits. For this reason, it depends on what you want to accomplish and how long it takes to move through the various processes to achieve your desired results.
